I am a licensed clinical psychologist (Lic. # 14776) as well as board certified in couple and family psychology (American Board of Professional Psychology).  My clinical approach draws from my experience in helping and giving hope to a broad spectrum of populations and presenting issues over nearly 40 years in the field. I use strength based and solution focused approaches to my work. I am multi contextual, in that I explore family, community, developmental, ethnic, gender and cultural contexts in which individuals are living their lives.

Over my career I have been a teacher, supervisor, trainer, presenter, and author, working in universities at JFKU, Cal Poly and Antioch University Santa Barbara (where I just retired as a core faculty in their doctoral psychology program).  My research interests include men and gender and factors promoting healthy intimate relationships.

I am a member of Division 43 (Society of Couple and Family Psychology) with the American Psychological Association as well as an active member of the Central Coast Psychological Association. My wife of 28 years and I live together; we are the proud parents of a 25 year old son who is living independently and making his way in the world.
